Worship Series:
Memories of Jesus
The Easter day stories from the Gospel of Luke emphasize the importance of
remembering Jesus in order to understand his teaching and to recognize the risen Christ
moving in our world. For the weeks of Eastertide,
we will look back at stories of Jesus from the Gospel of Luke
that we did not explore with the Narrative Lectionary reading schedule.
We will remember, and, we hope to encounter the risen Christ.
Sermon by Rev. Mandy England Cole:
Listening Well
This section of Luke is referred to as the “parable of the sower.” Jesus both tells the parable and offers an explanation of what the parable means. As he finishes the explanation he gives a warning to the crowd to pay attention to how they listen. Is listening more than simply hearing? We’ll explore how Jesus encourages listening that is embodying by our action, and, we’ll wonder about what action our memories of Jesus are nudging us toward.
