Sophia Farms is planning to run a small five-week test CSA and are seeking 8 couples/families/individuals who would like to partner with them in this learning experience. The inaugural 2020 Sophia’s Pantry CSA will run for 5 weeks, beginning Sept 23. Each Wednesday from Sept 23 to Oct 21 in the late afternoon/early evening, members will come to one of two drop locations (Grace Baptist Church or Ginter Park Baptist Church) to pick up their pre-packed share of the weekly harvest.
Over the course of the 5 weeks, they anticipate boxes to include vegetables such as:
- winter squash, such as acorn and butternut
- leafy greens, such as kale and collards
- lettuces
- cabbages
- root vegetables, such as radishes
The cost of a share is $125 (equating to $25/week), to be made online in 2 installments: $50 at sign-up and $75 by Sept 22.
If you want to sign up for the 2020 Sophia’s Pantry CSA, please email Melissa Jackson, using this email address: csa@sophiafarms.org.
A partnership of shared success and risk is the backbone of any CSA, and Sophia Farms wants to emphasize heavily the partnership aspect of this 2020 test CSA. Inaugural members of Sophia’s Pantry CSA are part of their learning process, and while they are working hard in making this a successful experience for everyone, in the true nature of a CSA, participation is not without a measure of uncertainty.
