Community Maundy Thursday Worship
7:00 PM • In-Person & Online (TBA)
Ginter Park Baptist Church, Chamberlayne Heights UMC, and First Mennonite Church are continuing an old neighborhood tradition of coming together for worship on Thursday during Holy Week. “Maundy” comes from the Latin word mandatum, or commandment, reflecting Jesus’ words in John 13:34 “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.” We will read the stories of the Upper Room in John and Luke, sing hymns, hear a short meditation from Chris, and share in Holy Communion with our neighbors. We will also join the singers together from each congregation to form a choir. Rehearsal for the choir will be at 6:00 PM.
